Currently, fish farmers struggle to achieve good profitability due to a lack of knowledge and inadequate government training systems that fail to provide tailored solutions for individual farmers. Fishmate aims to build a comprehensive ecosystem involving everyone in the fisheries value chain, creating a robust database and community with profitability as the central goal. With over 68% of India’s population living in rural areas and facing low GDP per capita, coupled with India’s 111th position in the Global Hunger Index and 71st in the Nutritional Index, there is a pressing need to improve nutritional outcomes, generate employment, and increase farmers' income.
